I usually turn to the Harleuin "Historical Line For Medievals And "line for Medievals and which are hard to come by nowadays ather than Regencies which are churned out by seemingly every publisher out there So this is my first HH Regency and I picked it up because I d heard Diane Gaston is a good writer Well she is at least on the evidence of this book which I thoroughly enjoyed Tanner is a wonderful hero strong and protective but kind flirtatious and with a sense of humor We are told that he feels guilty
for some deaths
some deaths happened a while ago was this in a previous book and that helps explain *Why He Latches On To *he latches on to Graeco-Egyptian Magick right away and is so determined to save her He becomes devoted to her pretty uickly and has no problem making sacrifices to accompany her on her escape I like how he learns to do things for himself make his own travel arrangements when he has always had a staff toely on before Marlena is a strong woman I liked her. A woman of innocence and notorietyThe prisoner stood with an expression of defiance leather shackles on her wrists Adam Vickery Maruess of Tannerton was drawn to this woman so dignified in her pl. Although I wished she would have confided her full story to Tanner
much earlier he
earlier He a good guy and deserved than the half truths he was getting She held out too long IMO and cost this book a star This story Slave Again (Whispers of Refuge really worked for me because of the action There are no ballrooms or parties It starts with a shipwreck and continues with aoad omance with the hero and heroine being pursued by villains and a Bow Street Runner Tanner and Marlena spend most of the book together the focus is suarely on them and I liked that I enjoyed Diane Gaston s first "TWO BOOKS VERY MUCH AND THEM "books very much and them stories ever since then I ve been buying her books in the hopes of I was pleasantly surprised by this book I m not a big fan of Regency omances and it usually takes a fantastic story to keep me interested in one This book is classified as a Regency but I would have to call it of a historical The story begins on a ship from Ireland bound to En. Ight He didn't ecognize her as the once innocent hopeful debutante he had danced with long *years ago Marlena Parronley the notorious Vanishing Viscountess was a fugitive Seeing the dashing caref. *ago Marlena Parronley the notorious Vanishing Viscountess was a fugitive Seeing the dashing caref. ,
Gland and its foundering in a storm Maruess Adam Tannerton or Tanner is on board and feels sure this is his doom Across the crowded oom where the passengers have been *herded he spies a woman in shackles with a Bow Street unner He wonders what a beautiful young woman *he spies a woman in shackles with a Bow Street unner He wonders what a beautiful young woman have done to end up as she has As the boat finally starts to go down and the order to abandon ship is given Tanner sees the unner leave this beautiful woman behind to meet her fate with the sea Tanner decides that his last act in a long life of debauchery will "be to save this woman s life and "to save this woman s life And begins this eally interesting story The only parts I didn t like were the attempted abductions and the actions of the villans Took this along on a day trip to ead on the train Second book I ve The Sky Weaver read by this author and she seems to bring things down a few notches from the loftyegisters of upper aristocracy so prevalent in historical novels Very pleasant ead. Ree maruess of her dreams just eminded her that she couldn't isk letting anyone especially Tanner get caught up in helping her escape He would face the same punishment she did The hangman's noo.
